Art Across Australia
The national collection is for all Australians. Through our touring program and national engagement strategies, the collection is shared based on the inclusive principles of mutual benefit and exchange. We work closely with our partners to deliver projects and exchange ideas that support audiences in different contexts and environments.
For over three decades, the national collection has been shared beyond Kamberri/Canberra, in communities across Australia and the world through dedicated touring exhibitions, loans programs and regional initiatives.
Through the Art Across Australia program, Australians have access to the national collection in more ways than ever before. From short-term and long-term loans to dedicated exhibitions, there a range of diverse initiatives that will bring the national collection to your community.
Touring Exhibitions
For over three decades, the national collection has been shared throughout communities across Australia and the world, through our dedicated touring exhibitions.
Sharing the National Collection
Under the National Cultural Policy ‘Revive’, the National Gallery’s Sharing the National Collection initiative will receive $11.8 million over 4 years. This support will allow us to share some of our much-loved works with regional and suburban galleries, and cultural institutions across the country on long-term loans.
Regional Initiatives Program
The Regional Initiatives Program is a short-term loan program supported by Metal Manufactures Ltd, conceived specifically to provide regional Australians with access to the national art collection.
Art Cases
Art Cases comprises five art-filled cases that travel to schools, libraries, community centres, arts centres, galleries and aged care homes to inspire creativity, inclusivity and learning through art making and storytelling.
