Sunday Funday presents creative experiences for kids and families, inspired by works of art in the national collection. Collaborate in workshops, play in the Enlighten Lab, join a curious floor talk, take part in a Poetry Slam, visit the Vincent Namatjira All Stars Studio and more!

Our Corka Bubs

Our Corka Bubs is the first ever Aboriginal contemporary dance work for babies.
Grounded in Australia’s First Nations’ culture, gentle motifs of water, earth and the bush are guided by traditional live music creating a captivating storytelling experience through movement and play choreographed specifically for an audience of babies alongside their carers.
Directed by renowned South Australian Aboriginal choreographer Gina Rings and produced by Ollie Black.
Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer. This program is designed for children aged 0–3 years.

Curious Floor Talks

Curious Floor talks invite young curious minds and their families to put on your curious caps and set out on a special gallery experience to discover the National Gallery’s collection through playful activities and lively discussions.
Children must be accompanied by a parent/carer. This program is designed for children up to 12 years.

Poet Andrew Cox
Poetry Slam with Andrew Cox

Free
Deep dive into the Slam Poetry world with award- winning poet Andrew Cox. Immerse yourself in the creative process from generating ideas to bringing them to life on stage. Participants will learn performance techniques from a seasoned professional and refine their work through the editing process, transforming it into dynamic performances.
This program is tailored for children aged 10-15 years. We welcome participants of all skill levels.
Meet at the Main Entry at 11.15am. We will make our way together to the Sculpture Garden Pavilion. The program includes a 30 min break so please bring food and drinks to enjoy for lunch.

The All Stars Studio invites you to turn your hero into a superstar and make a trading card inspired by Vincent Namatjira’s All Stars Series. You can add it to the All Stars Wall of Fame or take it home with you.
The All Stars Studio is open to all ages, children must be accompanied by a parent/career.

Experiment and play in our Enlighten Lab and find a world of light, colour, and shapes as you experiment with reflective and translucent materials. Let your imagination fly as you bend your perception and try new and exciting ways to experience light and space.
