Creative learning is a lifelong pursuit. With our range of art programs, you’re sure to find the perfect spark for your imagination.
Our programs are designed to inspire creativity, inclusivity and learning through direct engagement with art and artists.
Choose from a range of onsite, online and hybrid events including talks, performances and screenings to hands-on workshops and tours.
Access programs
Our free programs — including tours, workshops and talks — are designed with and for people with disability and their communities so that everyone can engage with our exhibition program and the national collection.
Art Weekends
Let the National Gallery spice up your weekend with a smorgasbord of free creative programs including art activities, films, storytelling and more. Inspiring for solo visitors and the whole family.
Art Weekends regularly coincide with exhibition openings, and include Saturday Screenings, Super Sundays, and our suite of Access Programs.
Art from home
Make, think, talk and learn about art from the comforts of your home with our range of activities developed in collaboration with artists.
Talks & Lectures
Delve into the ideas behind the art with our livestreams. Australian and international guest speakers cover an array of topics engaging with the Gallery’s artistic program.
Come backstage with our Art Talks. Gallery curators and staff share works of art they love, and offer new ways of thinking about the world that we live in.
Join our other high-profile ongoing series', including the National Gallery’s Annual Lecture and the Contemporary Australian Architect Series presented in partnership with the Australian Institute of Architects.
Young People
We work directly with young people to co-create programs directly responding to their ideas and interests.
Designed for 12 – 25 year-olds, these programs empower young people to think expansively and support themselves and their peers along creative paths.
Kids & Families
Plan an art adventure with the whole family at the National Gallery.
From free tours and workshops to art making spaces and a trail through the Sculpture Garden, there are so many ways to discover the Gallery and the collection together.
